Pocket Bike Racing
Pocket bike racing established itself in Europe, but is quickly spreading to USA
and other countries. Don't be fooled into thinking pocket bikes are just toys
for kids. This is a very exciting form of motor racing. It is only a fraction
of the cost of other motor sports.
Most pocket bikes are built to scale
and great detail. Fitted with full racing fairing, disk brakes, and racing
tires, these pocket rockets are awesome machines. Depending on the engine
horsepower, super pocket bikes can exceed 70mph (110 kph). The speed record is
78mph (124 kph), though this is likely to be broken soon. Common motor sizes are
2.5hp up to 14hp and beyond.
They are actually harder to ride than the
bigger racing bikes. This is due to the scale of them. They react much quicker
requiring great concentration. If you can ride a pocket bike smoothly at high
speed, you should be able to ride a full size bike with skill and
confidence.
Popularity of the sport has
made ownership of a pocket rocket motorcycles a high priority in many
households.
